Brief Scholarship Description: The University of Sydney invites candidates who are eligible to undertake a Postgraduate Research Degree or Master’s by Research program at this University to apply for the University of Sydney International Research Scholarship (USydIS). The objective of the USydIS is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to undertake research projects which will enhance the University’s research activities.

2. Scholarship Program: Victoria Fernandes Scholarship at University of Warwick, UK

Brief Scholarship Description: The Victoria Fernandes Scholarship has been established by The School of Engineering in memory of one of our former PhD students, Victoria Fernandes. Victoria sadly died shortly before submitting her PhD thesis in 2006. Vicky (as she was widely referred to) had obtained a first class Warwick MEng in 2003 and continued onto our research degree programme, examining aspects of cementitious materials and their application to low-cost housing in the tropics. Throughout her studies she was ill with an infection that often incapacitated her, yet after every medical setback she returned to her studies with renewed determination. Her commitment to completing those studies was exceptional and extraordinary and she consciously risked her life for them. This Scholarship has been established in recognition and memory of her commitment, dedication and courage. She set an example for us all.

3. Scholarship Program: Tercentenary International PhD Scholarships at University of Edinburgh, UK

Brief Scholarship Description: The Tercentenary International Scholarships Scheme helps outstanding research students from outside the United Kingdom and European Community to study in the School of Chemistry by providing for some of the costs of their training and supervision. The scholarships are offered to overseas applicants starting full-time PhD programmes in the School of Chemistry in 2012-2013, with start dates between 1 September 2012 and 1 June 2013. A minimum of ten scholarships will be available in session 2012-2013. The scholarships worth £5,000 each pa will be offered for a period of three years.

4. Scholarship Program: Belgium Government Scholarships for Indian Students, 2012-2013

5. Scholarship Program: Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP)

Brief Scholarship Description: The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) are designed to promote capacity building within organisations in 61 countries by providing training and education to mid-career staff. The NFP is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation. Fellowships are available for a selected number of master’s degree programmes, Short courses and PhD studies.

11. Scholarship Program: 2012-2013, Masters PhD ENS Cachan International Scholarship Programme, France

Brief Scholarship Description: The ENS Cachan International Scholarship Programme is aimed at international students who are currently studying or have studied and obtained their latest diploma outside of France, who have a proven high academic level and who aspire to a career in the research and/or high education fields. This programme is aimed at students wishing to apply for a second year Research Master (RM2) or for a joint PhD in order to follow or pursue their research training in one of the departments or laboratories of the ENS Cachan.The grant amounts to 1000 euros/month.
